FINAL DAYS APPROACH!
THE KICKSTARTER OFFICIALLY CLOSES ON
MONDAY, AUGUST 31 · 9:00 AM EDT
Ahoy, Travelers! We’re in the final days of August and the Chronicles of the Second Sun Kickstarter is nearing it’s end as well. The goals have been met and then some, but there are still plenty of folks out there who could use copies of the Chronicles!
If you haven’t backed yet, this is your last weekend to do it. The campaign ends Monday morning, August 31 at 9:00 AM EDT, so it’s now or never!
Well, maybe not “never”, but the Kickstarter does give you early access to book 3 before it releases to the rest of the world in October! It’s also a great way to get signed copies of the books, along with all the other merch and goodies I have to offer.

BABY UPDATES
The Olsen-Thrift baby bump will also be considerably bigger! I’m a little over 14 weeks along, and with next month’s newsletter we will also know what kinds of names to pick from!
Pregnancy has definitely posed a unique set of challenges, and I’m thankful the timing has worked out the way that it has. I haven’t been reading nearly as many books as I should be, and my attention span is getting shorter by the day, but I’m really excited for this next chapter in my life. It will be a challenge to find time for writing and other creative endeavors, but I’m really proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish so far, and I’m excited for what the future has in store.
INDIE READS
I haven’t had time to finish any new books lately, but I’ve got plenty of indie books under my belt that I can recommend. When you’ve finished reading the Chronicles trilogy (or if you want to break it up with books in between), check out these two fantasy series:
This is a beautiful epic fantasy series that I am impatiently waiting for the final installment of. It’s expansive, it’s dark, it’s colorful - it’s everything I love in a fantasy world. The trio of protagonists each have their own quirks and flaws, and I love each one of them. The books are chunky, and there are ample amounts of vivid descriptions of everything, but I cannot recommend them enough.
This is another really fun fantasy series. The first book is more akin to a romantasy novel, with the relationship between the main two protagonists taking center stage, but the plot overtakes it in the second book, and the upcoming third book promises epic battles and conflicts to come.
This series also features magic, fae, and portals galore! Much more “high/epic fantasy” than the Grinning Assassin series, but both are equally good!
SEE YOU NEXT TIME!
Thank you again for all of your support throughout the years! I hope y’all have an excellent end of your summer, and I’ll see you in the next one!
— Jay
